Ukrainian band TaRuta and Lithuanian band Biplan have released a new collaborative track, "Ликуйте души" / "Skraidinkim sielas" (Let the Souls Fly), performed in both Ukrainian and Lithuanian. A music video has also been filmed for the song, which the musicians jokingly refer to as "psychological art rehabilitation." The track, which serves as a reminder to care for oneself and others even in the darkest times, was released simultaneously in Lithuania and Ukraine.
"Last summer, we met the members of TaRuta at a festival and, while waiting for our performances, discussed the possibility of recording a joint track. That’s how this bright song was born," recalls Biplan frontman Maksas Melmanas. "I believe it is very much needed for the people of Ukraine and other countries because war is a terrible and dark thing. I am glad we recorded it in two languages: in Ukraine it will be heard in Ukrainian, and in Lithuania – in Lithuanian. I hope the song reaches not only the listeners' ears but also their souls."
"We call this song the 'hymn of psychotherapists' because the lyrics are full of advice on how Ukrainians can stay on track during the war. We all need emotional support from those closest to us, so together with Biplan, we offer a simple formula for rehabilitation in our song – healing souls with kisses sweeter than honey," says the author of the track, TaRuta leader and volunteer Yevhen "Yezhak" Romanenko.
TaRuta ir Biplan - Ликуйте души / Skraidinkim sielas video:
M. Melmanas recorded the vocal part for the song, which aims to become an international hit, at the FDR Media recording studio in Kyiv. The accompanying music video was also filmed in the Ukrainian capital. The story of the track began with a short poem sent by a marine from the 503rd "Badger" Battalion fighting at the front. Since the text was not enough for a full song, other authors contributed to the lyrics in collaboration with poet Nastasya Semeniuk. The song was translated into Lithuanian by Hanna Holub, and the recording was produced by Roman Kalmukas. The production of the music video was partially funded by the LATGA authors' association.
The bands TaRuta and Biplan first met at the Maidan during the Revolution of Dignity. At the time, Y. Romanenko was one of the four official hosts of the protests, while members of Biplan performed songs in Ukrainian at Maidan concerts and supported the country's freedom fighters. This is the second collaboration between the two groups—a few years ago, the musicians recorded the track "Ми вічно юні" / "Amžinai jauni" (Forever Young).
Upcoming Concerts:
Biplan's performances will take place on December 26 at Renginių kombinatas in Klaipėda, December 27 at the Vandenis music club, and December 30 at the Saulė concert hall in Šiauliai. The band will conclude 2025 with a New Year's Eve concert on December 31 at the Girstutis cultural center in Kaunas. Next spring, on April 11, the musicians will hold one of the most important concerts of their career, "Biplan 30", at the Compensa concert hall in Vilnius.
TaRuta invites you to charity concerts on January 12 (2026) in Šilalė and January 13 in Tauragė. The band plans to organize more concerts, which will be announced in the near future.
