Legendary Rock Band Pink Floyd Tops European Charts Again After 11 Years

2025.05.12 14:59

This weekend, the concert album Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII soared to No. 1 in major European markets – the United Kingdom and Germany. It marks the band’s seventh album to reach the top of the UK charts and the eighth to do so in Germany.

Unsurprisingly, the album also claimed the top spot in Italy, where it was recorded live more than 50 years ago. The last time a Pink Floyd release reached the upper ranks of the music charts was in 2014 with The Endless River, which topped the charts in 21 countries.

Fans of Pink Floyd will have a chance to celebrate the band’s legacy on August 27 in Vilnius at the Twinsbet Arena, where UK Pink Floyd Experience – considered the finest Pink Floyd tribute act in the UK – will perform a special concert.

In 1971, Pink Floyd performed several groundbreaking concerts with no audience at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii. These performances were filmed and later released as Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii in 1972. This year, the soundtrack of that film was released as a stand-alone album, earning renewed global acclaim.

Pink Floyd last performed together on stage in 2005 at the Live 8 concert, and the band hasn’t held a full tour since The Division Bell Tour in 1994. Still, their music continues to resonate with audiences and is often brought to life by other talented musicians.

Following the massive success of Pink Floyd at Pompeii – MCMLXXII, the upcoming UK Pink Floyd Experience concert on August 27 in Vilnius has become even more anticipated. The show will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wish You Were Here, one of the band’s most iconic and influential albums.

The concert is organized by the music agency M.P.3, which is also bringing the legendary band Scorpions to Riga this June for a special anniversary concert at the Xiaomi Arena, and Fun Lovin’ Criminals to the Vakaris Vilnius club in November.
