Legendary U.S. Rapper The Game Refuses to Stay at a Luxury Hotel in Vilnius

This Thursday, April 3rd, the globally renowned American rapper The Game, who boasts millions of fans worldwide, will stop in Vilnius as part of his The Documentary 20th Anniversary Tour. The concert will shake the walls of the arts factory Loftas. Currently performing in other European cities, the artist has been actively sharing not only concert moments but also behind-the-scenes glimpses on social media.

It’s quite likely that The Game will spend his time meaningfully in Lithuania too — organizers have received a long list of requests that continues to grow, even with just days remaining before the concert, as new demands from the rapper and his team are added.

It’s nothing new that music superstars demand more than just quality sound and top-level technical support from local organizers. In the so-called “rider,” every detail is outlined — what the team will eat, where they’ll stay, how the backstage dressing rooms should look, and sometimes even wall colors and mirror sizes are negotiated. But concert organizers are used to last-minute changes to artist requests.

Initially, The Game demanded a luxurious hotel and the best, most spacious rooms available for himself and a sizable team traveling with him. On social media, the rapper posted a photo of his BMX bike resting on the white linens of a hotel bed and showcased himself relaxing in a lavish bath with a panoramic city view. However, the organizers in Lithuania were recently informed by The Game's representatives that he has decided to forgo a hotel stay in Vilnius altogether.

“We weren’t particularly surprised when we received the rider — there weren’t any requests that were impossible to meet. It seems the party at Loftas is going to be wild, as most of the rider space is dedicated to premium drinks. That said, the lunch menu was changed at the last minute. Instead of the previously listed dishes, the new request was simply pizza,” says Urtė Abrasonytė, an M.P.3 events organizer in charge of The Game’s visit to Vilnius.

She admits that all preferences, technical concert requirements, and other details began to be coordinated as early as six months before the star's appearance in Vilnius. The contract includes clauses that are not to be disclosed, and what The Game will do before and after the concert at Loftas remains confidential.

However, judging by his activity on social media, you just might spot The Game biking through the streets of Vilnius, sampling culinary masterpieces in upscale restaurants, or partying into the early hours at a local nightclub.

The Game is currently touring across Europe in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his most successful album, The Documentary. The album’s creation featured contributions from music icons like Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Eminem, Busta Rhymes, Faith Evans, Nate Dogg, Kanye West, and Just Blaze.

The Game’s name has been heard on the stages of the world’s most prominent music awards, including the Grammys, MTV, Billboard, BET, and more. Hits like “Hate It or Love It” and “How We Do” have been streamed over a billion times on Spotify, YouTube, and other platforms. To date, the rapper has released ten studio albums and is currently working on his eleventh, scheduled for release in 2025.

The Game is not only a music icon — he has acted in films, appeared in documentaries and numerous TV shows, and even lent his voice to video games (including the legendary Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas).

The Game’s real name is Jayceon Terrell Taylor. Born in 1979, his childhood and youth could themselves be the subject of a movie. The future star was once involved in drug dealing and was shot during a home invasion. That experience put an end to his criminal path and led him to music. He openly shares that his musical inspirations include 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., and Jay-Z. He began rapping in 2001 and was soon discovered by Dr. Dre, who helped land his first major record deals.
