"Bix" Unveils New Song "Samanos": A Lyric Born from a Shocking Story
An electric shock—this is the best way to describe the latest track "Samanos" by the rock band Bix. "The state of the world makes us feel unsafe, and through this song, we want to return to our deepest roots—to those ancient sources of strength that have carried Lithuanians through the darkest chapters of history," says Bix frontman Saulius Urbonavičius - Samas.
According to Samas, he hesitated for a long time, wondering if this song would end up as just another patriotic sigh. But now, in a time filled with tension, disinformation, lies, and growing fear, it feels more necessary than ever: "If anything can inspire faith, it is our history. It is the most powerful weapon against any looming uncertainty."
"I want this song to hit like an electric shock," says Samas.
The lyrics were inspired by a harrowing historical reality—Lithuanian partisans, hiding beneath layers of moss and earth, secretly listening to Voice of America radio, believing that help would come to liberate Lithuania. But no one ever came.
If "Samanos" makes you wonder whether it's just about love for Lithuania, the answer is simple: yes—but it's also about every one of us. It speaks of survival, the price of freedom, and the power of hope. It reminds us to trust those deep, time-worn roots covered in moss, yet still alive. As history shows, they have the strength to grow giants out of anyone who chooses to act rather than wait for rescue from afar.
Bix’s "Samanos" was released today, March 4, on all music streaming platforms. In late February, the band premiered the song live at the Radarom charity concert, performing alongside the General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy Choir "Kariūnas".
