"Biplan" Celebrated Their Birthday Unconventionally: Fans Helped Organize the Concert

2024.10.07 15:29

One of the longest-standing Lithuanian bands, "Biplan," which has been performing without breaks, scandals, or splits, invited fans to celebrate their 29th birthday on Friday evening at the "Tamsta" club in Vilnius. And it was unlike any other celebration. "Since this is our 'last -teen birthday,' we wanted to have a blast and celebrate all the adventures, mountains we've climbed, and seas we've crossed together," said the band members.

This time, special tribute was given to the fans – they were the ones who voted on social media to create the concert's song list. "It was really interesting to find out which songs are the most cherished by our listeners. There are songs that we've somewhat forgotten, but they are incredibly dear to the people: bringing back memories, symbolizing important life events, or even appearing in their dreams. So, we wanted everyone to contribute to the birthday playlist," said Max Melman.

On stage, not only did the most popular "Biplan" hits like "Labas rytas," "Amore," "Anzelmutė," "Kino filmai," and "Šypsenos" play, but also songs like "Mis viena naktis," "Ji sako," and others.

The "Tamsta" club, where the birthday celebration took place, was packed on Friday. Fans sang "Happy Birthday" to the musicians, and just before the show ended, a cake with the humorous inscription "29 sucks, but at least it's not 30" was brought on stage.

The musicians share that over the past 29 years, they've gone through plenty of rough patches, experienced unforgettable moments, and met countless incredible people.

"They say a person ages when they decide to feel old. We still haven't lost our spark on stage. Why do people still love us and come to our concerts? Probably because of our authenticity. Both in music and in life, we are the same. We're not chasing popularity with some extravagant means, but fans can clearly feel that we love what we do," Max Melman believes.

Throughout their career, "Biplan" has released the following albums: "Banzai" (1997), "Braškės" (1998, re-released in 2018), "Jazz'e tik merginos" (2000), "Chuligans" (2005), "Nuodai P.S. Lyg paskutinį kartą" (2009), "Meilė EP" (2012), "Visi keliai veda prie jūros" (2014, re-released in 2024), "Nuo nulio iki mėnulio" (2019), and "Džiaze tik merginos - Live" (2021).

The concert was organized by the music agency M.P.3, which this year also invites audiences to the first official performance of Hans Zimmer's project "The World of Hans Zimmer" in Lithuania at the "Twinsbet" Arena in Vilnius, as well as the legendary German synthpop group "Camouflage" concert at the "Compensa" concert hall in the capital.
