This Thursday, an exclusive anniversary performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical "The Phantom of the Opera" will take place at the capital's Arena Vilnius. This will be the 300th show of this grand international tour, and the fact that the very first premiere of the musical in London's West End four decades ago also took place on a Thursday adds a layer of symbolism to the evening. To mark this double celebration and for the convenience of the audience, a small number of additional "Phantom Thursday" tickets has been released for sale and can be purchased at Bilietai.lt.
This Thursday will become one of the most important milestones of the tour—the 300th anniversary performance of the tour, which has been running for two and a half years, will be staged in Vilnius. This impressive milestone marks the company's incredible journey and international success. In a historic coincidence, the very first world premiere of "The Phantom of the Opera" at London's His Majesty's Theatre took place on this exact day, Thursday, October 9, 1986.
To commemorate "Phantom Thursday" and in response to the immense public interest, the organizers have opened up a small number of additional tickets on the Bilietai.lt platform. This is an exclusive and final opportunity for spectators to secure their seats in the auditorium on this special evening and celebrate this spectacular anniversary together with the world-class company. A limited number of tickets is also still available for the remaining stagings of the musical, which will run until Sunday.
A total of 8 consecutive performances are scheduled in Lithuania, taking place from May 19 to 24. These performances are unique in their technical scale—the space of Arena Vilnius has been masterfully transformed into an authentic, luxurious, and cozy intimate theatre. The spectacular show is created by a team of 130 specialists, featuring 230 original costumes, hundreds of masks and wigs on stage, while the technical equipment was transported in as many as 15 shipping containers. The audience can look forward to the sound of a live orchestra, moving stages, pyrotechnics, and, of course, the iconic climax—the one-ton crystal chandelier. For the convenience of the audience, synchronous translation into Lithuanian is displayed on screens installed in the arena.
The highly successful tour is part of an exceptional global event—the legendary masterpiece by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is celebrating its 40th anniversary on stage. Over four decades, "The Phantom of the Opera" has become the most successful musical in entertainment history: it has been staged in more than 200 cities, translated into 23 languages, and seen live by over 160 million people worldwide. The piece has won more than 70 major theatre awards, including the prestigious Tony and Olivier accolades. The anniversary tour allows European audiences to witness an original, unaltered, and top-tier Broadway and London West End-caliber production in English.
One of the most ambitious and technically complex projects in the Baltic States is implemented by M.P.3, an event organization company with long-standing experience, working in close cooperation with Baltic Music Group, alongside lead producers Broadway Entertainment Group and LW Entertainment, and Andrew Lloyd Webber's own company, The Really Useful Theatre Company Limited. This international partnership ensured that the grand tour reached the three neighboring countries for the first time in history. Before arriving in Lithuania, "The Phantom of the Opera" was staged with massive success and standing ovations in Estonia, and immediately after the final show in Vilnius on May 24, the musical will move to Poland, where it will continue its anniversary march across Europe.
