"The Phantom of the Opera" Tour Reaches Estonia: First Visuals from Tallinn

2026.05.06 10:46

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary musical, "The Phantom of the Opera," has officially kicked off its anniversary tour across Europe. The official premiere took place yesterday, May 5th, in the Estonian capital, and in just two weeks, this grand musical sensation will arrive in Lithuania. The first images from the dress rehearsal in Tallinn reveal the true scale of the production: from the one-ton chandelier to 230 lavish costumes.
For six nights, Tallinn’s Unibet Arena has been transformed into the opulent Paris Opera House. The creative team—a company of over 100 people, including the cast, technical crew, and orchestra—spent the final rehearsals fine-tuning the most spectacular scenes, including the iconic "Masquerade." The grand premiere took place last night, with the Estonian audience enjoying the show in a completely sold-out arena.
Transporting the musical's entire set and equipment requires 15 large shipping containers, which also carry the most fragile cargo—the famous 3-meter-wide, one-ton chandelier adorned with 6,000 crystal beads. A special hoist with a 3.5-ton capacity is used to operate the chandelier. Throughout the breathtaking performances, audiences will witness 22 set changes, while 14 assistants backstage help the actors swiftly change through more than 200 costumes.
A. L. Webber’s masterpiece will run for six days in Estonia, while a record-breaking series of 8 consecutive performances is planned for Vilnius. According to the organizers, interest is massive: some sessions are already 97% sold out. For the audience's comfort, "Arena Vilnius" will be transformed into a cozy, intimate theater space, with synchronized Lithuanian subtitles displayed on screens. This will be a unique opportunity to experience a top-tier Broadway and West End level production, featuring magnificent music, luxurious set design, and stunning special effects.
