The most prominent Latvian folk-pop group "Tautumeitas," set to perform two concerts in our country during Midsummer, has released a new single. The female ensemble, appearing on June 23 at the "Oldman" club in Palanga and June 24 at the "Vasaros Terasa" in Vilnius, presents the song "Spīguļo, Saulīt" to their fans, which will soon be performed live. Tickets for the "Tautumeitas" concerts are available at "Shownet.lt."
As the brighter season approaches, "Tautumeitas" releases the new single "Spīguļo, Saulīt". This song serves as a symbolic introduction to the group's upcoming album, arriving this summer. The album is dedicated to one of the most magical times of the year — the summer solstice.
"The song was inspired by that fleeting, almost intangible moment just before sunrise on Midsummer morning. It is like a culmination after a night spent celebrating and waiting for this exact point — a moment that disappears instantly, leaving behind the realization that the days will gradually begin to shorten again, and the sun begins its journey toward autumn. 'Spīguļo, Saulīt' is, in a way, a prayer to the sun — an expression of gratitude, reverence, and an attempt to capture its presence at this transition point," says group member Aurēlija Rancāne.
"Spīguļo, Saulīt" is the first single from the album arriving in June, which features traditional Midsummer songs with a contemporary sound, creating a bridge between ancestral rituals and modern musical language.
"It is slightly unbelievable that this is our first Midsummer album, especially considering that the very first song we arranged more than 11 years ago was a Midsummer song," says Asnate Rancāne. "For the past three years, we have been inviting audiences to our 'Sunrise Concert Ritual,' where we experience the shortest night of the year together — this experience has naturally woven itself into our music. The songs on the new album carry a special — slightly mystical yet very alive — atmosphere."
The group's Midsummer concerts have become a tradition that will move to Lithuania for the first time this year. There is no doubt that these will be not only evenings of exceptional music but also visually stunning celebrations. "Tautumeitas," renowned for their enchanting stage design and unique costumes, will begin their concert series on Midsummer Eve at the Lithuanian seaside, June 23, at the "Oldman" club in Palanga. On June 24, Midsummer Day itself, the magical sound of Baltic songs will fill the capital — the concert will take place at the "Vasaros Terasa" in Vilnius.
