This week, the team of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s world-renowned musical The Phantom of the Opera visited Lithuania. Leading actors Nadim Naaman and Georgia Wilkinson, who will return to Vilnius this May for a grand tour, not only visited the venue and sampled Lithuanian cuisine but also shared exciting news: due to overwhelming demand, two additional performances have been added. It is now officially confirmed that a total of 8 shows will take place at the Twinsbet Arena from May 19–24.
The additional performances of The Phantom of the Opera will be held on Thursday, May 21, at 7 PM, and Sunday, May 24, at 2 PM. Tickets for all eight shows are available at "Bilietai.lt" box offices and online at www.bilietai.lt.
During their visit, the musical's stars met with the media, enjoyed the beauty of springtime Vilnius, and inspected the upcoming tour venue.
"We are delighted to announce that we have added two extra performances in Lithuania. We can’t wait to meet you all in Vilnius," said Nadim Naaman, an acclaimed West End actor and Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Music, who portrays the Phantom. He was joined by Australian soprano Georgia Wilkinson, who stars as Christine Daaé.
The stage stars were impressed not only by the stunning architecture of Vilnius but also by the local cuisine—the guests were full of praise for the traditional beet soup, šaltibarščiai. During the short visit, the team gave several interviews and conducted a detailed walkthrough of the Twinsbet Arena. Taking advantage of the favorable weather, they even climbed onto the arena's roof to enjoy the panoramic views of Vilnius.
Securing the tour for one of the world's most popular musicals in Lithuania was no easy feat—negotiations lasted nearly three years.
"A tremendous amount of effort went into this. Managing the logistics for a team of over 120 people and 15 shipping containers of equipment and scenery is a massive undertaking," said Vaidas Stackevičius, head of the "M.P.3" agency. "Last year, we couldn't include the Baltic States in the tour schedule, but this year everything fell into place perfectly. It is symbolic that the musical is celebrating its 40th anniversary, a milestone we will also mark here in Lithuania."
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s phenomenal The Phantom of the Opera will tour Lithuania for the first time in history. This legendary production will dazzle audiences with spectacular scenography and world-class performers. From May 19–24, the Twinsbet Arena will transform into a grand opera house, with the majority of the stage, lighting, and sound equipment, as well as the scenery, arriving directly from the United Kingdom. The production will feature moving stages, pyrotechnics, and numerous other special effects. Over 230 costumes, along with countless masks and wigs, will be brought in specifically for these performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera is one of the most successful shows in the world: performed in 195 cities, it has been seen by over 160 million people. Since its 1986 debut in London’s West End, the production has won 70 major theater awards.
